Halt, Oh Sands of Time

Sands of Time - Colipera
Sands of Time – Colipera

Halt!
Oh sands of time,
Halt and flow back!

Your
Coarse texture thwarts me
From pouring forth freely.

Summoning me to repair my time
Bidding me to relive like a child…

Halt!
Oh sands of time,
Halt and flow back!

Let me meet myself,
Let me breathe with myself,
Let me…free myself!

Let me sprinkle
Tinkling childish laughter
In the lines of my palm,
Let me unwrinkle
Crinkling creases thereafter
From the plain of my brow…

Let me unchain
The restraints of inhibition
From the mounting pain in my heart,
Let me rein in
The shadows of fear
From the walls of my mind…

Let me pluck
The stinging bruising thorns
Escorting the isolated gestures
Of sham care and affection
From the skin of my trust…

And
Let all these anomalies
Flow in these tears
While I write
This missive of appeal…
…to you.

For
It may surely
Smoothen the coarseness
Of the sands of my time…

Thus,
Sans the patch glitchy,
I shall merge…
…with you.

In soul and mind and body
And will slip and flow…
…with you.

But,
’til then,
Halt!
Oh sands of my time,
Halt and flow back…

  1. These words, halt O sand of time, they freeze my heart for a moment. I don’t know why. May be I don’t want to move to the future that’s uncertain. May be because I want to live in the present. Love your poetry.

    1. Yes, the opening verses were meant to pull at the strings of the reader. To have an insight to the poet’s emotions.
I am really glad that you could form a connection with the poem. That is the best compliment ever for any poet/writer.
      Thank you so much!
